American Autowire is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new Classic Update Harness engineered exclusively for 1968-70 AMX and Javelin models! This Classic Update is a comprehensive replacement designed to simplify restorations and upgrades.
Key Highlights of the Classic Update Harness:
ATO-style enclosed fuse box: Ensures secure, organized power distribution. Turn signal and hazard flashers, along with a horn relay, are fully integrated into the dash wiring. A specialized panel mounting bracket and all necessary hardware are included.
Dash and Lighting Controls: Included plug and play headlight switch (with shaft and replacement knob) and floor-mounted dimmer switch connect seamlessly to the dash harness. Under-dash courtesy lamps tie into the original door jamb switches, while Javelin owners benefit from direct-fit rear C-pillar courtesy lamp connections.
Original-Style Connectors: American Autowire’s exclusive use of original connector bodies preserves factory levels of fit and finish. The rear body harness incorporates correct lamp sockets for stop/tail, back-up, and side marker lamps, fuel tank sender, license plate lamp with through-floor grommets, C-pillar courtesy lamp extensions, and a third brake light feed.
A complete console harness extension services PRNDL indicators, rear courtesy lighting, and includes back-up and neutral safety switch connections.
Wiper & Kickdown Feeds: Harness supplies power to the windshield wiper motor and electric washer pump, utilizing stock wiring routing. An updated feed also accommodates the gas pedal–mounted (1970) or carburetor-mounted (1968-69) automatic transmission kickdown switch.
Instrument Cluster: The instrument cluster harness features a quick-disconnect interface, facilitating cluster removal for service or upgrade. Kits accommodate the stock dash cluster, optional clock, factory tachometer, and most aftermarket gauge upgrades. Does not support the original Rally Pack gauge set.
Ignition and Signal Compatibility: Plugs included for all three years’ in-dash or column-mounted ignition switches. Turn signal connection is a direct fit on 1970 steering columns, and terminal and connectors are supplied for 1968-69 columns.
Engine Bay and Accessory Wiring: Under-dash disconnects simplify engine and forward-lamp harness connections with proper firewall grommets. Under-hood wiring connections cover headlights, parking and side marker lights (including the molded 90° 1968-70 parking lamp mold-ons), horns, electric washer pump, and brake pressure warning lamp.
The kit addresses factory heater switch and blower motor wiring, as well as 175 amp Mega-fuses to protect the alternator and main fuse panel. A heavy-duty 6-gauge alternator charge cable is also included.
Optional Accessories: A 6-way accessory power disconnect (with mating connector and terminals) allows for easy addition of power windows, door locks, or other aftermarket systems. A relay trigger wire is provided for electric fan installations.
